On Saturday, June 6, 2009, the Product Management world was abuzz with the voices of nearly 200 product professionals who descended on Atlanta’s GTRI Conference Center for Atlanta’s first ProductCamp, a one-day “unconference” centered on Product Management, Marketing and Development. The sold-out event was limited to a capacity of 250 registrants, and had a turnout of over 180 participants.
According to sponsor John Mansour, Managing Partner of ZIGZAG Marketing, ProductCamp Atlanta had “an awesome energy level, quality and interaction that was easily on par with ProductCamp in Silicon Valley.”
John Milburn of Pragmatic Marketing, who has sponsored and attended four ProductCamp events this year, added that,”The participants at Atlanta’s inaugural camp were first rate.”
The event was organized by Jason Brett and a team of volunteers from a variety of companies and professions. “ProductCamp was a complete success. Based on the feedback we’ve received, planning has already begun for ProductCamp Atlanta 2,” said Brett when asked about the future of ProductCamp.
Steven Haines of Sequent Learning Networks summed up the experience by saying, “Product Camp Atlanta was an outstanding, well-orchestrated forum. It substantially added more building blocks to the professional knowledge base of the product management community in Atlanta.”
ProductCamp Atlanta’s free admission, breakfast and lunch was made possible through the support of several sponsors, including Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), ZIGZAG Marketing, Sequent Learning Networks, Pragmatic Marketing, AIPMM, TAG, Brainshark.com, Build-a-sign.com and the Georgia Center of Innovation for Life Sciences.
