We had the pleasure on interviewing Murray Gordon of Microsoft on the date on the Windows 7 launch. Gordon, a West Point graduate, talks in this video about the BizSpark Incubation Week for Windows Azure, a session that begins in Atlanta Monday November 9 and concludes on Friday November 13. This week is intended to advance five start-ups from prototype to code using daily seminars and overnight coding services in India. A number of local notable entrepreneurs will be presenting to the teams, and yours truly and others will be judging the results on Friday.
Gordon was taped on October 24, and I presume that by now all slots are filled for this particular week. However, you can sign up for the BizSpark program through TechDrawl and other Network Partners. From members I have talked with, Microsoft is getting high praise for its support of the start-up community with software and services made available free so you can spend your money on noodles or other necessities. (No Aeron chairs please.)
Those who participate in this program will be exposed to the Microsoft Professional Developers Conference in Los Angeles the following week, so there’s a lot riding on a successful outcome of the incubation week.
We welcome Microsoft as our Software Industry Sponsor and applaud them for the BizSpark program and particularly for innovative models like Incubation Week. Gordon does a great job representing his company, so we’ll let his video above provide the salient points. We look forward to writing about successful companies that are launched by this program.
