Global Security Engineering (GSE) of Atlanta is a software developer of Biometrics Identity Solutions. The company has developed FaceTrace™. This innovative, patent pending software is used for facial recognition to help solve many of the security issues that face the world today. It combines the best features of existing products, minimizes the effects caused by lighting and the environment, and increases the flexibility of facial positions (poses) for better accuracy.
The company reports that its benchmark test results for speed and accuracy, two key metrics when deploying real-life applications, have been superb. Its approach to creating and storing data records for facial recognition provides two key benefits: (a) FaceTrace can be integrated with virtually any database, and (b) privacy issues are eliminated since no actual image is being maintained. These attributes have lead GSE to its first signed contract for integrating FaceTrace into an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. A must-have feature of the EHR market is for patient authentication to meet or exceed federal anti-fraud requirements. Facial recognition is quickly becoming the preferred patient authentication method due to its being less-intrusive than finger print or iris scan systems where patient after patient touch or require close contact with the device.
Revenue generation under the GSE/EHR System provider contract is a recurring revenue model. GSE will be compensated based on the number of enrolled patients per month. The company is offering this model of software licensing/subscription to additional EHR vendors and to other markets.
GSE intends to integrate FaceTrace with other security products, such as Digital Video Recorders (DVRs). The security market absorbs 250,000 DVRs per month. Facial recognition features are a growing, market-driven requirement of these DVRs. Other opportunities exist for Access Control Systems and Security Management software.
The company notes that facial recognition sales for 2008 exceeded $552 million, growing over 250%. The total market is split among fewer than ten substantive companies.
GSE is nearing market readiness for three product platforms; Access Control, Digital Video Recorders and Security Management, with a plan to OEM these to other manufacturers and vendors. There are also patents pending on “Remote Transaction Verification” for use with the Internet transactions.
CEO David Raudabaugh (“recognized” above) has been involved in the security industry for over 35 years. Mr. Raudabaugh has 19 years experience as a President/CEO and often speaks at national security trade shows and events. Clifford Barr is COO and has 25 years experience as a security professional. Mr. Barr has held top secret security clearances during his time in the military and has held executive positions as a director of security for the hospitality industry.
IDBIOMETRICS sponsors the “Facial Recognition Research Center” at Southern Polytechnic State University (SPSU). GSE has taken this step to ensure access to the best trained, focused engineering staff and their research. Dr. Chih-Cheng Hung is the Director of the Computer school at SPSU and serves as the CTO of GSE.
