About twice a week I’m involved in some type of conversation about how we all consume content – whether it’s my theories on managing Twitter (a topic for another day), how much network television I watch (not much), or why I love my TEDTalks podcast. The reality is there’s more content flying at us every minute, and the acceleration Apple’s iJuggernaut (iTunes + iPhone + iPad) has brought mind-boggling amounts of data to our fingertips. And I’ve been considering where the limits are.

As hot as the ScoutMob and Regator kids are on the B2C side of the world, one of the most anticipated B2B launches on the horizon is Dave Wright’s latest venture, SolidFire. Dave has a deep track record in the startup world, including selling JungleDisk to RackSpace in 2008 and being a core part of the IGN team during the News Corp. acquisition of 2005. So if great things happen in threes, I’m supposing 2011’s going to be one hell of a year for SolidFire.
SolidFire is busy at-work building...
We conclude our conversation with Vivek on the topic of H-1B visas, and how he believes they are the wrong approach to attracting and retaining skilled immigrants. Vivek shares a statistic that’s eye opening: Between 1995 and 2005, immigrant-started companies created more than 500,000 jobs and 52% of all Silicon Valley startups. With numbers that significant, Vivek contends that these immigrants shouldn’t be limited to work visas and constantly in danger of losing their job – and therefore...
People constantly ask me what I’m doing these days. TechDrawl is widely known, but it’s rather a well-kept secret that our team is doing a good bit of marketing and technology development for startups (ours and others), large organizations and a few turnarounds. Our diverse backgrounds afford us a wonderful opportunity to work across a variety of industries, from developing web-based applications and digital media apps for the iPhone/iPad to designing the brand and customer experience for everyone’s...
Since others have started the practice of giving out first names of active high-tech angels in Atlanta, I thought I’d name my five. These are "striving" angels you don’t see on the tech scene, but they can be relevant prospects to fund your deal:
1) Ferd – Has worked 30 years for a large corporation, no major domestic disturbances during his life to drain his wallet, more than adequate 401(k), stable finances, $500K in liquid investment capital that is earning little or nothing, stands to...
When you think of Twitter, it’s often relatively inane 140-character updates interspersed with highly relevant content you don’t have to traverse the web to find any longer. It’s that dichotomy that has led to Twitter’s meteoric rise – effectively mirroring the schizophrenic nature of how we consume information. And every once in a while an ultra-relevant conversation breaks out among 3-5 folks on a Saturday afternoon, which was the case last weekend on the continuing topic of investments...
